What’s Better? Online Dog Training or Dog Training in person?

You may be surprised by the answer...

I get asked this question a lot, "is it a good investment to sign up to an online dog training website or are they better spending the money to hire a professional dog trainer in person"?

Well it is a good question,  and I'm going to point out the 4 key areas to consider.

  1. Cost
  2. Quality of the solution
  3. Ease of use
  4. Support

Let’s take a look at it...

  1. Cost – Paying more does not mean it's better training.

Some folks are prepared to spend whatever it takes to get a solution for their puppy problems.

And that’s fine... I get it, you just want the best for your pup and ensure that they don't get injured by not paying attention to your instructions, or you may just want the peace back in your home.

You may not have hundreds and hundreds of dollars to throw at different dog trainers to get the solution you want and need.

Here's a true fact for you: Paying a lot of money does not guarantee that you will get a good dog trainer who can help you and your dog.

The Cost of a Dog trainer in person - Let me run some figures past you...did you know the cost of getting a dog trainer to come to your home can start at approximately $50 for the first hour?

(If someone quotes you less than this you'd have to wonder about their experience and skills) and it goes up from there, sometimes to as much as $500 for a couple of hours work.

The other thing you need to check is whether several sessions will be needed to get the results, because the total costs can be far higher than the initial visit.

It often goes like this... they get a foot in the door, make an assessment, form a relationship with you and your dog before explaining that your dog has serious issues and will need many sessions to correct it.

You may find that after several sessions you are out of pocket $500 and you've seen little improvement. This is very frustrating and disappointing when this happens.

Now with Online Dog Training the entry point is around $40 and this will give you access to an enormous  amount of information to help you.

This will include Videos, Audios and written support.

I know of one generous site that will even allow you to trial the site for just $1.

It's Professional dog trainer Doggy Dan’s video website

Here's the link https://tinyurl.com/y46wkrzu

It's one of the best I've come across, it allows you to take a look at the training before you actually pay the joining fee. How fair is that? it just shows how confident they are in their training methods

WINNER: Online Dog Training...

  1. Quality Of The Solution - you need to choose carefully.

We've seen an influx of dog lovers turning into dog trainers overnight, they may be a dog lover but this doesn't  necessarily make them a good dog trainer.

You wouldn't ask a taxi driver about your shares, just as you wouldn't ask your friend to train your dog, just because they like dogs...

The other point is that some people have managed to get qualifications but have absolutely no experience in dog training.

There are some fine dog trainers out there, but if you are going to look for one, make sure  you have reliable recommendations from people who have used them.

When a dog trainer comes to visit your dog in person, they have the advantage of watching the dog in action and observing them... which is helpful when trying to find a personalized solution to the problems. If they are experienced then they will also be able to tailor things easily to your home and personality.

Online Dog Trainer - The benefit  of using this method is you know your own dog and the problems it's having already and you'll be able to look for the video that will give you the answer.

You'll find the solutions are excellent, and it's done with love and care, no harsh treatments here. You only have to look at the sheer number of dogs and different breeds they have worked with and the many different problems they've dealt with, you're sure to find a quality solution for your pet.

In summary, no matter which option you choose,  do your homework first.

Talk to people who have used the service, get referrals and read the Testimonials from others.

Make sure they are genuine and recent.

  1. Ease of use – Online dog training is easy because you can repeat the lessons as often as your puppy needs to.

You may be lucky enough to have a good personal dog training living nearby and this could be a great option, if you know how much you're going to have to spend from the beginning.

But I must warn you they are few and far between.

The worse thing is if you spend good money and still don't get the results you were looking for,

you then have to throw more money at the problem.

Something that many people love about an Online Dog Training website is the ease of use.

You can watch the videos any time day or night.

You may be at the dog park and need a reminder or suggestions that you can quickly implicate. Training on line means you can learn the methods any time, you don't have to keep appointments or eat up your valuable weekend time.

It means everyone can take part in reinforcing  the training too...

The other advantage of Online Training with videos, they are broken down into smaller half hour sessions, not huge 2 or 3 hour Marathon sessions  that are too much for you and the dog.

You'll often find the personal dog trainer will do this to maximize their travel time.

The winner is Online Dog Training...

  1. Support – It could become a problem with a personal dog trainer if you are paying extra after the initial training to have them come out again and again. You need to check this.

Ask if telephone or email support is available. Most Online Dog Training website include a forum where you are able to ask questions and receive answers.

Some Online trainers will allow you to upload a video to their forum of your dog behaving badly and ask them for an answer, the video will give them a good idea of what is happening with your dog.

As you can see, nothing can beat a good online solution when it comes to COST and EASE of use. With the amazing Technology available now making great easy to follow videos In all the areas of  dog training, Online training is the WINNER.

SUPPORT the quality of your support will depend on the solution you choose to go with and can vary tremendously.

Both options are able to offer exceptional solutions.

Likewise, when it comes to the quality of the training, there are some great dog trainers and some great online solutions. The really important point here is... can you find a top class trainer nearby? and if not, then Online Dog Training is your answer.

It WINS in all four areas, Cost, Quality of Solution , Ease of use and Support.
